Message-ID: <21881@snow-white.udel.EDU> Date: 13 Jun 90 13:19:21 GMT Sender: mmdf@udel.EDU Lines: 30 Hi, I was wondering a little about the new ECS, especiall because a friend needs a computer to write his thesis. He can get a mac-SE + printer + wordproccessor for around $1800. Now the alternative is offcourse an Amiga. $500 for the 500,$90 for the extra half meg,$500 for the Mitshubishi Diamond scan monitor, + IBM Laserprinter ?????($600) Now my questions are: 1) All the new Amiga's come with ECS, right? (How much does a ECS-chipset cost for me?, old one is $40) 2) Can the Diamond scan indeed do ECS, and regular workbench, and interlace? Also the new Superhires? (780 pixels) 3) Is there a driver available for the IBM laserprinter (Or does any Epson driver do?) It is really amazing that you can have the 640x480 non interlaced resolution, for a $1000. The macIIci is $3300 (that is with harddrive) 4) Is there a hack to get an ECS workbench on 1.3, or do you have to wait until 2.0 comes out? (Is A-MAX the only program that supports ECS then???) 5) Is Prowrite as good as people say it is. I have pen pal, really good, but it crashes one in a while. ProWrite is only $75 by the way. Thanks, Nils Gokemeijer. (Thanks to all the people that helped me with 'FF fonts:.font') (NJ_Gokemeije@fandm.bitnet)
