Oy! Gotta rewind the tape on this one! Ah, well. The A1000 expansion port is a strange beast. LOTS(!!) of problems started to occur with a number of systems as soon as you added _anything_ to the port. The most common problems were caused by two things: weak (low drive current capability) PALs and/or poor grounding of the PALs on the Amiga. Your shop will know what I mean. Commodore changed vendors a couple of times with the PALs. One of these vendors' chips didn't have the oomph to drive the expansion port properly, hence there were all kinds of weirdness going on. Since you mention the fact that it warms up then poops out, I'd suspect that you have one of the grounding problems (either cold solder joints or inadequate grounding of the PALs). Once the system warms up, the connections get flakey. Trying to fix either problem is not for the faint of heart. If you're qualified to wield a soldering iron and have good intestinal fortitude, you might have a go at retouching the grounds on the PALs as a first try. I would __STRONGLY__ suggest that you take your baby to the shop and let them do it. -- .-------------------------------------------------------------------------. / [- O] Rick Stevens (All opinions are mine.
