A "clipfile:" device. Writing to "clipfile:0" would put something in the clipboard, and reading it would read it back out again. For dynamic clips, a "clippipe:N" device could be used, which would be basically a "pipe:" that went through the clipboard. This would make it trivial for programs to use clips.
