Just to be picky, Columbia University started the Kermit project, set the standards for the protocol, and are the main distribution point for PD Kermit programs. However, the programs themselves are written by various people from all around the world. The Apple II Kermit (Kermit-65) has been worked on by several people (as you can see by the credits in the docs) but the last few versions have resulted from the great efforts of Ted Medin at NOSC in San Diego.
