I think, it is impossible: the baud rate is generated by the timer D in
the MFP 68901 chip.
The generated clock is fed into the RCV_CLK and TR_CLK inputs of the
same chip (the 901 is used for the serial interface).

Without hacking the hardware (inside the ST or outside), it's
impossible.

But most modems and acoustic couplers will accept send data with 1200
baud and lower CTS (meaning "not-clear-to-send") when their buffer has
filled up.
