I'm currently working on this, as I have a fairly large bet with an associate who believes that I can't build a machine that can beat him under certain time constraints. I'm a very poor chess player myself, but I thought this would be an interesting challenge. I'm building the hardware now. I'm using 2 megabytes of high-speed static RAM. I haven't done to much with/to the software yet, but since it didn't take too much effort to get it running on a Macintosh, I don't expect much trouble with the i860 if (a big if!) the compiler is stable.
