Does anyone have a detailed explanation of the error codes which are displayed
by the BIOS when a device fails at startup?

Specifically the code I am after is 1701(04)

Yes, I have already looked in the IBM Technical Reference and it tells me that
this is a "Fixed Disk Post Error".

Yes, I have already asked my dealer and he says 'the disk doesnt like cold
mornings...'
