Dear James, (I hope you read this) I feel I am more than qualified to answer your 'tirade' against the IBM PC & compatable systems. I have owned most of the popular computer systems, including the Macintosh. I was the system administrator for several Sun minicomputers, and have experience with many mainframe systems. Disappointment may be the best word to describe my reaction to your article. Computers are like tools - everybody has their favorite tool when they're working on a task. As a professional writer, I used to favor my Macintosh. But, the Mac failed to appeal to the "hacker" in me. So, I started using my AT-compatable, equipped with a hard drive & windows. This combination has kept me happy for some time, but now I'm looking to convert to Unix. This. of course, is much easier on an AT than a Mac+. Ask yourself this: who is the least flexible - the person who uses the system that they find most comfortable, or someone who damns anybody who doesn't conform to what he feels is the "right" way of doing things? Instead of spending your time & net dollars making uneducated statements, consider using your energies to do something constructive. Maybe you can design the "perfect" computer. But don't expect me to buy it. Sincerely, Peter L. Wargo WVNC Radio -- Peter L.
