70# will indeed cancel call waiting on the telephone system here (GTE).
After entering this command, wait for another dial tone and then dial
the number. Call waiting will be canceled for the current call and then
resume. This can be automated by prefixing your numbers with 70#,,,,,
in your terminal program's directory or as a standard prefix. The commas
instruct a Hayes compatible modem to wait long enough for a dial tone
before dialing.
