When I invoke Windows, it takes about 35 seconds to load. I have found that, by removing the smartdrv.sys entry from config.sys, the time is reduced to about 15 seconds. Everything I run from Windows is over twice as fast without smartdrv.sys! Does this sound familiar to anyone? I have a Priam 150meg ESDI drive hooked up to a DTC controller in a Dell 310. Since Priam is out of the hard drive business, I am having trouble getting tech support. The local distributor here in D/FW, Direct Computers, wont answer my calls so far. Any suggestions on how to get smartdrv.sys working, or an alternate disk cache utility compatible with Windows 3.0 would be appreciated. P.S. I tried the /B- option on the smartdrv.sys command, as suggested in the README.TXT file for Adaptec controllers. No difference.
