Summary: Do most PC's have them? Message-ID: Date: 13 Jun 90 14:24:20 GMT Organization: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY Lines: 14 Please excuse my ignorance, but I am relatively new to IBM's (I'll hopefully be getting one next week!) Do most IBM clones, or whatever you want to call them, have a configurable parallel port? In other words, can I set four of the pins to output, and four of the pins to input? I want to do some of my own low level digital I/O, and don't mind writing my own custom I/O routines. Furthermore, would this software be compatible among most clones? Or would it be individual to each bios, brand or parallel port? I am used to the Amiga where everyone has the same OS and parallel port hardware. I would appreciate any advice that I receive. Thanks, Joe Peck peck@ral.rpi.edu
