This will clear the battery RAM which, among other things, contains serial port settings. You'll need to reset your clock and other control panel settings, however. A public program called PRAM came out ages ago which allowed selective clearing of battery RAM. You may find a copy still floating around. -- Mark Scherfling I didn't see the original article on this, but if it is a serial port lockup (most likely due to a MIDI program crashing), there is a program to reset it. It is called: spfconfig (or something like that) but I don't remember seeing it at sumex. I think it was at rascal.ics.utexas.edu though. If anyone needs it and can't find it I can mail a binhexed copy. I didn't write it, I think it came across comp.binaries.mac a while back. I don't even know who wrote it, there wasn't any documentation or note. tim Tim Butler (tbutler@wpi.wpi.edu) Teaching Assistant HL 103b ext.5424 soon to be at: Department of Mechanical Engineering Rensellaer Polytechnic Institute Worcester Polytechnic Institute no Internet address yet
