Keywords: display card Message-ID: <9821@ogicse.ogc.edu> Date: 12 Jun 90 23:20:22 GMT Organization: Oregon Graduate Institute (formerly OGC), Beaverton, OR Lines: 23 Is it possible to use the new Apple 8x24 (GC or vanilla) display card with ~1000 line color monitors? I've read every piece of documentation I can find on it, and haven't a clue. In 1152 x 870, 8 bit mode, Apple only mentions their two page monochrome monitor. Is there any reason I can't purchase someone else's color monitor and use this as a 1152 x 870, 8 bit color display, or is it only possible to do color in 640 x 480 mode (24 bit color will only work in 640 x 480, but I'd be happy with 256 colors in 1152 x 870 mode). The only reason I could think of why it wouldn't work is if Apple used a high speed DAC in only one of the 3 channels. If possible, does anyone know of a color monitor that can handle this scan rate? Even better, is there a multiscan monitor that can do both 1152 x 870 AND 640 x 480? (If someone would come out with a monitor that can handle scan rates all the way from NTSC -- 15kHz horiz / 60Hz vert -- up to 70kHz / 75Hz, now *that* would be impressive!) Thanks a million colors!
