Yes I've had it TWICE, the last time painfully recently.  On both occasions
there was no virus involved, simply a HD in the first and intermediate stages
of a terminal illness.  The second time around I had a little more sense and
backed up everything I could find (I also had the peculiar experience of FILES
disappearing and, occasionally, reappearing).  RODIME the first time CMS the
second, both internals.  Best of luck
