Can someone give me the lowdown on the differences between an AppleShare
environment and a fileserver environment and other AppleTalk environments such
as Macs connected to VAXen, other mainframes etc?

Specifically what I wish to know is whether my application which 1) changes
the resource fork for preference settings and 2) opens and uses files in
a particular folder (keeps them open during runtime) can or cannot be used
in any of these environments. Is there any Apple documentation on this? It
is important for the application to run on all sorts of networks out there
in large companies.
