Holmes [Consulting Detective]) Newsgroups: comp.sys.sun Subject: Top in SunOS4.1 Keywords: SunOS Message-ID: <8812@brazos.Rice.edu> Date: 12 Jun 90 19:19:55 GMT Sender: root@rice.edu Organization: Sun-Spots Lines: 18 Approved: Sun-Spots@rice.edu X-Sun-Spots-Digest: Volume 9, Issue 210, message 7 I just installed 4.1 on a net of 3/50, 3/60s (and coincidentally upgraded the server to a 4/380). Now top gets the message Kernel VM Open: Permission denied even though /dev/mem, /dev/kmem, /etc/passwd, and /vmunix are readable by everyone. In 4.0 it worked if /dev/kmem was readable. Is there something else we are missing in 4.1? Note that this is the same binary of top restored from the 4.0 backup. Please mail your responses, I am several months behind in reading this list.
