We wish to tell you ("on the spot") a problem we have encountered in using
a SCSI tape drive (both Archive QIC-150 cassette drive and Kennedy 9610
tape) in using IRAF image reduction software: IRAF requires the tape unit
to be able to backspace a record through a tape mark (EOF), and "rst"
drivers cannot do that (as explained on page 1429 of the SunOS Reference
Manual, Release 4.1, under mtio(4)); do you know any way to circumvent
this problem?
