Perhaps if you posted your attempt, people could point out your errors. If you are reluctant to do so because of embedded passwords, two points: 1) You could delete the passwords from the posted version, and 2) As has been mentioned on the the comp.unix.* newsgroups a lot lately, keeping plaintext passwords in a .netrc (even a mode 600 .netrc) is stupid.
