In particular, I am trying to display a raster bitmap on an IBM PS/2 with an 8514 display. As a testing drawing I'm using a bitmap which is 1600 x 2200 bits (8"x11" at 200 bits/inch). My problem isn't getting it to work...using an XImage structure and calling XPutImage() works great. It's just slower than the proverbial molasses (IMHO :>). As an example of what I'm trying to do, there is a cool client from the R4 distribution: xgc. On my Suns (3/50, 3/60, 4/65) doing the XPutImage works very well. When I run it on the PS/2 I thought the server had crashed it took so long! The performance is so abysmal I can't believe there isn't a work around except for the obvious one of not using the PS/2! :> Any help would be greatly!!! appreciated. -------- Tony Montiel Optigraphics Corporation (619) 292-6060 Carroll Park Drive optigfx!montiel@uunet.uu.net San Diego, CA 92121 -- Tony Montiel Optigraphics Corporation (619) 292-6060 Carroll Park Drive optigfx!montiel@uunet.uu.net San Diego, CA 92121
