I'm not sure what the fastest is, but Kermit is certainly the slowest (short
of typing it in).  I normally use Zmodem, and average about 228-231 cps
throughput on a plain 2400 bps modem.  Zmodem also has better error checking
then Kermit (CRC-32), and supports Crash Recovery (picking up a stopped file
transfer in the middle).
