I don't know about LePage's book, but I suggest:

For APL2--APL2 at a Glance; Brown, Pakin and Polivka, Prentice-Hall 1988
For APL*Plus--APL An Interactive Approach (3ed ed.), Gilman and Rose,
              John Wiley and Sons 1984.
 
The latter has some specific APL*Plus stuff, but is OK for most APL's but
