Early versions of Compaq 3.31's User Diagnostics had the following problem: On a Compaq Portable 386/20 (gas plasma) with Compaq EGA board in the attached expansion unit and more than 1 megabyte on the motherboard, the Diagnostics could not find the extended memory. The problem went away when the EGA was removed. This might or might not show up on your clone, and it is fixed on, e.g., User Diagnostics version 6.08.
