The old behavior is even more annoying: if new groups are not entered
into your .newsrc, each time a new group is created (which happens
twice daily lately), rn asks you about *all* the newsgroups which
are not in .newsrc, since it has no way of knowing which is the new one.

The choice is between having hundreds of unused groups in your .newsrc,
or being asked hundreds of questions almost every time you start rn.  :-(
