I'm glad you're not in charge of Commodore-Amiga. They would still be marketing their 256K Amiga 1000 as the wave of the future with you in charge. For a long time Amiga users have been trying to get rid of the home computer "game machine" impression of the Amiga and get it into business instead of IBM and Apple where people can really use its power. Thanks for your help! I, for one, believe in the Amiga, and the more "power products" we have, the better chance of getting into some real business we have. We're not going to get anywhere with people like you saying that the Amiga isn't, and will never be, good enough...it's just a HOME COMPUTER! /* Flame Off */ for now... IMHO, CBm should be constantly developing new products. They should never develop a "well, we could've used a 68040 but people will be content with the '030 for now" attitude. Keep on the cutting edge. We depend on CBM for the standards for the machine. If a third party device doesn't conform, it probably won't succeed in an Amiga environment. CBM should at least set some sort of standard for 24-bit that at least thrid-party developers can start (unless they have a better idea for it, then they could tell CBM). If in three years, 24-bit graphics is ho-hum and the norm in the computer community, we can't have compatibility problems between boards. I'm not saying that all should be the same...the developers can enhance their performance and speed all they want but there should be a standard way to choose resolution and bit planes and display them. Intuition and all existing programs would run under the 24-bit system, even if it didn't use all its capabilities. This way 24-bit display could become standard on hte motherboard and all older, non-24-bit software would run. You'll have to excuse my rambling, but these are my opinions. Flames welcome (to a point ;-), opinions welcome. Heck! I can't stop you from doing anything 8-) -- _ Craig Lemon // |_| Kitchener, Ontario \X/ | | M I G A Amiga 2000 -- 2400 bps -- AmigaUUCP 1.03D uunet!watmath!xenitec!wcbcs!lemsys!clemon uunet!watmath!xenitec!wcbcs!{_clemon|AKCS.clemon} ^^ Not Reliable Yet "Yes, it's my real name!!"
