Keywords: 4Mbyte limit, 68030, accelerator boards Message-ID: <1936@aber-cs.UUCP> Date: 4 Jul 90 13:20:33 GMT Reply-To: cho@uk.ac.aber.cs (Chris Orgill) Organization: UCW,Aberystwyth,WALES,UK Lines: 20 I have been looking at the Mac Accelerator market for SE's. I fairly rapidly converged on the Gemini 030/25 board (i.e. 25MHz 68030 + 68882). I was told that this board only allows 4Mbytes of DRAM to be added, as the SE firmware limit is not avoided by adding the accelerator. This sounds completely half-brained to me and I am disinclined to believe it ! Can anyone explain ? Will I have to go for the vanilla Apple SE/30 upgrade to get at sensible amounts of DRAM ? (the target application will be Mathematica with a local kernel, hence the need for oodles of memory, 5 Mbytes would be OK) Anyone care to suggest their 'best' accelerator for SE's ?
