The drive had been connected to a Future Domain TMC-870 SCSI controller and was operational. I connected the drive to a Sun 3/60 using a power supply and adapter cable stolen from a Sun shoebox. The documentation that I have for the drive is for installation in a PC and is minimal. Format(8) sees the drive and I can get the defect list and label it. However, when trying to format the drive, I get the following messages (repeated endlessly) a few minutes after beginning the format: si0: siintr: bus error during dma last phase= 0x4 (DATA IN) csr= 0xa507 bcr= 27646 tcr= 0x4 cbsr= 0x45 (DATA IN) cdr= 0xc6 mr= 0x2 bsr= 0x81 target= 0, lun= 0 DMA addr= 0x250c count= 64512 (64512) cdb= 8 0 0 0 7e 0 Specifics: Micropolis 1578, P/N DS0006-05-6A Sun 3/60 Mono, 12 MB, SunOS 4.0.3 I am using the Sun standard format.dat entry for the 1578-15 and the parameters seem to match the drive specs. If you know how to configure this drive for Sun, or are aware of any problems with using a drive that was originally intended for use in a PC, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.
