Set your asyncronus transfer to ON. You'll get an error message when you first boot up the ADAPTEC BIOS FORMAT UTILITY, but nothing will work unless you set AT to ON (jumper number one). 2}. The BIOS will recognize this device as some ID/LUN which is other than that to which it is set. Ie: if you have it set as Id 0/Lun 0, the BIOS may think its at Id 0/Lun 4. Why?
