Well I finally took the time to find the bug in the ISC AT386 termcap.
There may be others, but by simply removing the "nl" entry it fixed
all the problems I was having with it.

I was mainly having trouble using cu or kermit and logging into
remote systems.  Using this fix on the remote machines cleaned
things up.
