I'm afraid that your technician is absolutely right.... A 150 Meg drive will ONLY write 150 Meg tapes. The 150 Meg drives are *supposed* to be able to read 60 Meg tapes, but "your mileage may vary" on this one so be sure to check this out with some sample 60 Meg tapes written on the 60 Meg drives that you actually care about BEFORE you get yourself into a dire emergency when you actually need to read 60 Meg tapes.
