We have an EXB8200 streamer (2.3 Gbyte on a video-8 cassette) and tested two DILOG controllers (SQ703 & SQ703-A) and one VIKING QT0 with rather bad results : SQ703 doesn't work at all, SQ703-A reads and writes just normal, but couldn't handle ints and LEOT, QT0 does but reads small blocks doubled. Next controller to test will be an UC-07 from EMULEX. I wonder what combination of errors it will present. Performance of the two half working controllers is quite the same: read and write speed is about 220 Kbytes/sec with 8 Kb blocks. File spacing is about 10 times as fast and rewinding a full cassette lasts 160 secs. Initialization is awfull slow (20 - 40 secs), but the streamer has a 256 Kb buffer and works well together with tar or dump/restore (@ 80 Kb/sec with dump).
