This is not a general solution (just one vendor) and doesn't answer the needs of many people (do you still need a minimum of 8 Mb to get any kind of performance?). For that matter one can tout Display Postscript as an answer for rendering Postscript/scalable outline fonts. Just as valid an advertisement and still doesn't answer the problem. !!!! flame off !!!! IMHO scalable graphics and text don't belong in X. There are many rendering schemes which can run on top of X to provide more then adequate solutions. To name a few: GKS (from U Illinois (xgks) or U Lowell (gksul) PHIGS (as evolving PEX) Display Postscript (from Adobe) Interviews (Mark Linton at Stanford) etc. Douglas S.
