Lines: 22 Hello, I had *limited* experience with X while developing a simulation package for the time-domain response of a control system; what I have seen so far about X is very exciting and the notion of a network transparent window system will be highly desirable in the project I am about to begin. Given all that: - What mechanism does the X server use to handle events? - Can this mechanism be accessed to porvide the functionality to do things such as priority-based preemptive scheduling tasks. - If the X server can't be used directly in a real-time application, can I still work around its limitations and sort of take over the handling of time-critical events, by programming say at Xlib level, in an efficient manner? Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions. ----- Rafael Cruz rcruz@paul.rutgers.edu
