Does anybody know where I can get hold of a better mouse-oriented editor than xmeditor, a tool for reading mails (like SunView's mailtool), a calculator (preferably HEX), a tool for reading and/or responding to News ? I have heard about a tool called Xrn which I suppose runs under X, but will it work well with Motif ? I have also heard about HP's Visual User Environment tool kit. Does the HP-VUE tools need anything apart from Motif and Unix to run on a workstation ? If you happen to know of other useful tools please let me know. Problems: The file selection dialog is not working well on my machine. It is impossible to move up and down the directory hierarchy. If you enter a new directory and click OK or double-click the ".." file the dialog terminates. What is broken, software or user ? Questions: 1 - I want to save screen layouts (the session) so i can reuse them later. 2 - I want to prevent certain windows from being overlapped by others. Is there a way to do any of these without modifying mwm ? Thanks in advance for your help.
