If you're thinking of ribbon "tweeters" I wouldn't recommend what's typically availiable. Phillips and Pioneer units are availiable from Zalytron, Madisound, Parts Express and Radio Shack. The main problem is bad vertical dispersion and bad sensitivity to vertical movement at the crossover frequency because the crossover's so high and the wavelength is so short. This is both my experience and other's. I tried the Shack(Pioneer) version, it's detailed but sort of weird. 2. Sound Accompany has two leaf ("ribbon") drivers that are to be crossed over to at 1 kHz. The larger version is intended for possible sound reinforcement use: high sensitivity and 60 watt power handling. Transducer Technology markets them. 3. Report what you try! bill S.
