It is my understanding that the draft spec for MPEG is not due out
until Sept./Oct 1990.  The chairman of the working group is Leonardo
Chiariglioni from Italy.  The JPEG (for still frame images) Technical
Spec rev. 5, is available from X3 Secretariat in WDC.  Charles
Touchton of IBM is the chairman of that WG.  It is still 18 - 24 mo.
from becoming a full standard and is approximately 3-4 years ahead of
MPEG in the process.

Aren't timely standards great..?..!
