Some people have been having difficulty with cppmake. The following doesn't
help. In sys/wait.h there is a line that reads:

#define WIFSIGNALED(s)	(((unsigned int)(x)-1 & 0xFFFF) < 0xFF) /* signaled */
                                         |
The (x) should of course be (s) ---------+
