(If I am talking nonesense please forgive me and teach me what is wrong with my model.) Why? Well, we have a fair number of applications where we need a single user computer , not on a network, but with the ability to use half-inch tape to transfer data. The machines need to SUN Sparcstation class and I see no need to spend $30K just so I can hook up a tape when $12K of compute power is all I need.
