The requirement is a "ping"-like program for hosts running the X.25 Basic protocol. The program will run on a 3B2 using AT&T Enhanced TCP/IP WIN/3B software. Any comments anyone might care to make concerning the following subjects would be appreciated: 1) the feasibility and time requirements for a rank beginner to develop such a program; 2) archive sites for sources for any public-domain programs which "ping" X.25 Basic hosts; 3) whether such a program can be developed without descending into the Streams level to talk to the X.25 Streams module. 4) information about X.25 Streams module interfaces (if it is necessary to develop at that level).
