I am running HYBRIS with 1 meg of chip on a 2000, I also have fast memory.
1) Have you tried booting it off of the 68030?  (I thought it worked on
the 68020/030)
2) Do you have any 68000 accessable fast memory?  (I suspect this might
be your problem.

In relation to #2 -> did your 1000 and does your friend's 1000 have fast
memory?  If it does,
try disabling it and then running HYBRIS to check out #2.
