Well, I think that, with the proper information in the boot sector (ie, saying it has 1024 bytes/sector, 1 or 2 sectors/cluster, 5 sectors/track, 80/82 tracks, 2 disk sides, 800/820 sectors), TOS will read the disk quite happily.
