I don't know whether or not this will work, but worth a try. Open your computer and disconnect the hard drive (unplug hard drive cable). Now you should be able to boot from the floppy. Now reconnect the hard drive (there is considerable risks involved, you must make your own decision whether or not to take such risks). I hope some software experts can suggest some way to let the computer to "re-recognize" the hard drive (by modifying the software). If this can be accomplished, your problem is solved. A simplier way may be to run the diagnostic program without rebooting. (I am not sure this is possible on your computer). After the hard drive is recognized, you can format it (of course you loose your data). If "copy" command utility is on the diagnostic program, this may solve your problem. I doubt it will work. Again worth a try if you haven't found other thing better. Just try to help. I hope you good luck or somebody else can suggest a better solution.
