In point of fact, a Sun SparcStation 1+ with monochrome monitor and local disk probably costs LESS than a comprably (sp?) equipped IBM ??? (fill in with your favorite combination of hardware/software to comprise an equivalent system). Furthermore, the Sun will run circles around the PC and is a superior machine in every way. Each time I use a PC, I am amazed as to how poorly designed a system it really is. Oh, as to multi-tasking, the "normal" state for a networked Sun is to be running on the order of 30+ simultaneous tasks (admittly, most of these are sleeping until needed...) -- gerry roston, field robotics center robotics institute, carnegie mellon university pittsburgh, pennsylvania, 15213 (412) 268-6557 gerry@cive.ri.cmu.edu
