A little over a year ago I recall seeing considerable publicity
regarding new laptop/docking station combinations.  In scanning the
current crop of advertisements and product reviews I do not see any
mention of docking stations.  What has happened to the concept?  I would
think that a design relying on the ready availability of the docking
station resources would permit creating a very powerful laptop with
extended battery life.  Likewise, the docking station would transform
the laptop into a desktop utilizing the processor and RAM.
