Silverlining does its partitioning at the driver level, but you can change the partitioning without reformatting the hard disk. I like to think of this as "firm" partitioning. Hard partitioning requires that you reformat the hard disk if you want to change the partition layout of the disk after you've set it up. >What is the best hard partitioning software??? SilverLining can be bought without a hard drive, and it includes its own optimization function, so you won't even have to buy DiskExpress (and it's a couple of orders of magnitude faster, too...)
