SuperCard 1.0, Mac IIcx, 4 meg

Is this me, or SuperCard... I want to set the hilite of a button from
within a field script. I'd also like to set the 'visible' of same button
(and other objects). It won't work.. not nohow.

I can get things to work just fine if I use a button to act as the trigger
to a script (held in the background) but the identical script won't act
if I try to access it from my field... it's accessed, but doesn't /work/!!

I've tried sending a mouseup to my button, and clicking on the loc of the
button - nope. The script seems to be read - beeps go beep - but it refuses
to act on hilite and visible/ invisible qualities.

Apologies if I've missed something obvious - I know HyperCard much better,
but needed boldface and standard text in the same field...

ps I know HC 2.0 will give me what I want - any bets on when it'll reach
   the UK??!!
