Turns out that if you got one of the slots on the end of the 4-simm banks, you can wrap a rubberband around all four simms and everything will be fine and dandy. You might also try some sort of epoxy or superglue...worst that could happen is that you trash the motherboard, which they want you to replace anyway, right?
