Happily, those days are no more, and you can now use ``gpic,'' the Gnu version of pic that already supports TeX. You can get this from prep.ai.mit.edu from u2/emacs/groff-0.3.tar.Z (get the patch file too) as part of the Groff (gnu version of ditroff).
