How I install fonts on a decstation:

		(a) dxfc foo.bdf > foo.pcf
		(b) compress foo.pcf
		(c) mv foo.pcf.Z /usr/lib/X11/fonts/local/75dpi
		(d) cd !$
		(e) dxmkfontdir
		(f) xset fp rehash

you might check that local/75dpi is in your font path. I have a 19" (75dpi)
monitor, so you may need to copy them to local/100dpi.
