The board met on June 11 and wants SB> to close it down. Anyone else know more? I received a letter from Dialogue a week or so ago, an emergency plea for money. As you will remember, they almost went under in 1986, I believe it was, and were only saved by an Ann Landers column plus grant from Clement Stone. They offered me a fund-raising job twice when I ran the Reading Service in Chicago, but I wasn't interested. They have never had a good professionally run fund-raising effort, relying on the ond-boy system, Lions Clubs etc. With fund- raising competition getting so fierce, they most professionalize their efforts and expand them also. Unless they do this they will eventually go under, even if they get another emergency reprieve. I had to raise approximately $250,000 a year when in Chicago, and it is a tough way to make a living, but it can be done. David Andrews ...
