     I am in need of an algorithm, source would be better, that would take
points in 3 space (on the order of 10,000 or so) and construct a regular
grid at different resolutions.  The adaptive resolution aspect is 
secondary.  I thought I had a program to do this, but it went the way off
all bad electrons.
